Have your vehicle examined by an authorized appraiser as per Section 21 of the German Vehicle Licensing Regulations (StVZO) (§ 19 (2) StVZO)

 This scope includes a computation of weight.

 Make an appointment with the authorized appraiser (e.g.: Technical Inspection Association (TÜV) or DEKRA) to have your vehicle approved as per Section 21 of the German Vehicle Licensing Regulations (StVZO) (Section 19 (2) StVZO). The value of the vehicle#s actual curb mass (inclusive "Kerstner" body) must be corrected.

Arrange correction or re-issue of the motor vehicle registration certificate, part I (ZBI) for the vehicle

 A new motor vehicle registration certificate, part I (ZBI) can be requested at the vehicle licensing agency (regulatory authority) by any person (e.g. workshop personnel) by submitting the following documents:
- Old motor vehicle registration certificate, part I (ZBI)
- Motor vehicle registration certificate, part II (ZBII)
- Appraisal as per Section 21 German Vehicle Licensing Regulations (StVZO), (Section 19 (2) StVZO)
- If applicable, an informal letter of authority by the owner/registered owner of the vehicle

 If the correction or re-issue of the new motor vehicle registration certificate, part I (ZBI) at the vehicle licensing agency is to be applied for and carried out by the workshop personnel, the customer must be informed beforehand that the following documents need to be provided to the workshop personnel for this purpose:
- Old motor vehicle registration certificate, part I (ZBI)
- Motor vehicle registration certificate, part II (ZBII)
- An informal and signed letter of authority by the owner/registered owner of the vehicle
