Driver and passenger side

On the driver and passenger side up to five positions can be stored. Accordingly the seat adjustment switch has five position buttons as well as a memory button for initiating the saving process.

- W version

In the rear compartment up to five positions can also be stored.

- V version

In the rear compartment up to three positions, one permanent seat and reclining position can be stored.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Position storage

The positions on the driver's side are stored with key codes. For this, the EIS [EZS] control module transmits the memory block number corresponding to the key code to all participating control modules. The corresponding key-dependent position is stored or entered through the combination of data from the door control module and electronic ignition switch.

If the memory block number alters during adjustment, then the attendant position has to be set.

Memory block number from electronic ignition switch

1 2 3

Position key 1 POS POS POS

From 2 POS POS POS

Door control module 3 POS POS POS

If the "memory block number" signal is not available or is implausible, then storage or adjustment is not performed.

Key dependency can be switched on or off in the instrument cluster.

Storing positions

The position keys and memory button are read in by the door control module.

There are two key actuation options available for the storing of positions:

a) First of all the memory button is held down and then the corresponding position key is pressed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

b) Then the memory button is pressed and then released again. In response to this the corresponding position key is pressed and actuated after releasing the memory button.

If releasing the button is recognized then the attendant message is transmitted again, whereby the corresponding bit is reset. If while the switch is being pressed the function conditions are reset, then the attendant message is also transmitted again, whereby all bits are reset. A started storage process is completed.

If the CAN signal sent by the driver side door control module is received, then the following is stored:

the current seat position by the driver side seat control module

the current steering column position by the driver side seat control module

the current mirror position by the door control module and the overhead control panel

the current contour by the driver side MMKL control module

This is stored in the specified memory area for the position (1 - 3) and memory block (1 - 3) in a non-volatile memory (EEPROM).

If the CAN signal sent by the front passenger side front door control module or rear door control module is received, then the corresponding

Seat control module stores the current seat position

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The current contour is stored by the MMKL control module

in the specified memory area for the position (1 - 3) or (1 - 4) in a non-volatile memory (EEPROM).

Set stored positions

The position keys are read in by the respective door control module. If the CAN signal sent by the driver side door control module is received, then the following is set:

the seat position by the driver side seat control module

the steering column position by the driver side seat control module

the mirror position by the door control modules, overhead control panel

the contour by the driver side MMKL control module

These are set in accordance with the setting stored in the current memory block (1 - 3) and the actuated position key (1 - 3).

If the CAN signal sent by the front passenger side front door control module or rear door control module is received, then the corresponding

seat control module sets the current seat position

and the current contour is set by the MMKL control module

which is stored for the actuated position key (1 - 3) or (1 - 4). The corresponding servo motors are actuated for the seat, steering column and mirrors, for as long as the bit is set for the position to be set or the position to be entered has been reached. If this message is received with a reset bit then the adjustment is immediately stopped. If a position has not been stored then an adjustment is not made.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Function conditions

It is possible to store positions and set stored positions when the following conditions have been fulfilled. These function conditions are verified by the transmitter of the request. Each recipient of the request checks the memory block number only.

Driver side

Valid memory block no. and

Passenger side

Rear

If the following are actuated again:

seat adjustment switch

mirror adjustment switch (mirror lens adjustment, applies to driver side only)

steering column adjustment switch (applies to driver side only)

of an additional position key, then a transmission to store a position or set a stored position sent via the bus is stopped.

The message is sent again with reset bits. If the memory button is held down while a position key is pressed then it is ignored. Requests for manual seat, steering column and mirror adjustment take precedence over requests to store positions. The adjustment request is performed; the request to store positions is rejected.

Requests for manual seat, steering column and mirror adjustment take precedence over requests to set stored positions.
