Function requirements, general

No overvoltage or undervoltage

No other mirror adjustment function active

Folding left/right outside mirror function sequence, general

The outside mirror housings can be folded in and out electrically in pairs. This can be done both automatically as well as manually. If circuit 15R is switched off during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is nevertheless completed.

If a new housing adjustment request is recognized during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is directly switched to the opposite direction.

The outside mirror fold down function comprises the following partial functions:

Manual folding in/out, function sequence

Automatic folding in/out, function sequence

Manual folding in/out, function sequence

Manual folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:

Manual folding in function sequence

By actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch (S20/1s9) in the driver side outside mirror adjustment and CL power window switch group (S20/1) the two mirror housings can be folded in (garage position).

The adjustment request from the outside mirror fold-in/out switch is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1) via front door LIN and transmitted to the left front door control unit (N69/2) via the interior CAN.

The left front door control unit actuates the power folding mirrors motor (M21/1m3) in the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1) and the right front door control unit actuates the power folding mirrors motor (M21/2m3) in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The circuit status of c. 15 is made available on the interior CAN by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73).

Manual folding out function sequence

By actuating the outside mirror fold in/out switch, the two mirror housings can be folded out (drive position).

The adjustment request from the outside mirror fold-in/out switch is read in by the left front door control unit via front door LIN and transmitted to the left front door control unit via the interior CAN.

The left front door control unit actuates the mirror fold-in motor in the left outside mirror and the right front door control unit actuates the mirror fold-in motor in the right outside mirror.

Outside mirrors are folded out

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Automatic folding in function sequence

When the vehicle is locked using the central locking system (CL [ZV]) from the outside with the transmitter key (A8/1), both mirror housings are folded in automatically.

The status of the CL is transmitted by the EIS control unit to the left front door control unit and right front door control unit via the interior CAN. The left front door control unit transmits the adjustment request to the right front door control unit via the interior CAN. The left front door control unit actuates the mirror fold-in motor in the left outside mirror and the right front door control unit actuates the mirror fold-in motor in the right outside mirror.

Additional function requirements for automatic folding out

CL open

Automatic folding out function sequence

The next time the driver or front passenger door is opened, both mirror housings are folded out automatically.

The status of the doors is recognized via the left front door rotary tumbler microswitch (M14/6s1) and via the right front rotary tumbler microswitch (M14/5s1).

The left front door control unit and right front door control unit receive the status from the corresponding door rotary tumbler microswitch. The left front door control unit actuates the mirror fold-in motor in the left outside mirror and the right front door control unit actuates the mirror fold-in motor in the right outside mirror.

If the mirror housings are still folded in with circuit 15R On, the mirror housings are folded out immediately.
