Task

To reduce rough idling (shaking).

Function

The IFI [ERE] control module (N3/7) receives an engine speed signal from the IFI/DFI [ERE/EVE] crankshaft position sensor (L5/6) and detects engine speed irregularities. These irregularities in engine speed are rectified by controlling the quantity of fuel injected at the specific cylinders. Idle speed thus remains constant.
