1 General
The base module (GM) (A7) relays the CAN messages with the information for display of the service information to the instrument (INS) (P2) via the
vehicle-CAN (CAN 1) or redundantly via the interior CAN (CAN 2).
The service information display is generated in the instrument (INS) (P2) and shown in the driver information system (FIS) (P2p1).
The following service information is shown:
- Service messages
- Service information
2 Service messages
Service messages are text warnings that indicate upcoming maintenance operations. They include the prognosis data "service date" and "remaining driving distance" of the indicated maintenance item.
They are automatically generated by the maintenance system (WS) based on their urgency level and shown in the driver information system display (FIS) (P2p1).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If service messages are issued, they appear for a certain period of time after the ignition is switched on.
Five urgency levels of service messages are differentiated:
- no message
- early warning
- service due
- immediate service (can be acknowledged)
- immediate service (brake)
Any acknowledgeable service messages has to be acknowledged. The associated service dates have to be observed and the maintenance operations have to be carried out.
If service messages are skipped, the operational and road safety of the vehicle can be jeopardized. If a maintenance operation is carried out late or not at all, the wear at the vehicle or at the major assemblies will increase at any rate.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.1 "Early warning" service message
Information on the maintenance item and the remaining driving distance until the service is due.
The life cycle consumption is still below 100%.
Service will be due within the next days and the life cycle consumption will then be 100%.
When acknowledging the service message while it is displayed the next service message is displayed if applicable. The service message disappears, if there is no acknowledgment while it is displayed.
2.2 "Service due" service message
The life cycle consumption is 100%.
The due service date was reached or exceeded.
If the service message is acknowledged while it is displayed, the next service message of the urgency level "service due" is displayed if applicable. The service message disappears, if there is no acknowledgment while it is displayed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.3 "Immediate service" service message
The life cycle consumption has reached the exceeding limit.
The due service date was significantly exceeded.
A highlighted text information is displayed.
If the service message is acknowledged while it is displayed, the next service message of the urgency level "service due" is displayed if applicable. The service message disappears, if there is no acknowledgment while it is displayed.
2.4 "Immediate service" (brake) service message
This service message is only issued for safety-related brakes. It appears if the brake wear has reached the its maximum and can not be acknowledged.
A highlighted text information and a brake symbol are displayed.
The service message does not disappear and is displayed permanently if a service date has been exceeded significantly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 Service information
The service information on a maintenance item includes the same information as the service messages.
If an indication without prognosis data appears under the text of a maintenance item, then no prognosis data are available for this maintenance item.
Example: transmission
