Disassemble

Unclip clips (19, 21) of sidebag unit wiring harness (20) from seat frame (18) and spring frame (13)

 Pay attention to installation position of sidebag unit wiring harness (20).

Unhook sidebag unit wiring harness (20) from bracket (22)

Unclip plug (24) and clip (25) of sidebag unit wiring harness (20) from inner guide rail (23) on seat cushion frame (12) and remove sidebag unit wiring harness (20)

Remove protective cap in rear of inner guide rail (23)

Place seat frame (18) to one side

 If the seat frame (18) is further disassembled, in other words if the backrest frame (1) is removed from the seat cushion frame (12), then always both parts have to be replaced.



Assembly

11.1

Clamp backrest frame (1) in vise with the right side facing up

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

 Clamp in backrest frame (1) and ensure that the hollow sections are not bent or damaged.

12.1

Fit on spring (5)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

 Note correct installation positions.

13.1

Fit on stop plate (3) and attach using bolt (2)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

 Do not tighten the bolt (2) fully.

14.1

Lift spring (5) above stop (4) using an appropriate tool

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

15.1

Tighten screw (2)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).



Detach backrest frame (1) from vise and put down

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

Insert clips (7) into backrest frame (1) and latch spring frame (10) in place into clips (7)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

 Four clips (7) have to be installed on vehicles with code (S21) Lumbar support (FFO) and six clips (7) on vehicles without code (S21) Lumbar support (FFO).

Latch left and right cable (9) of spring frame (10) into place on backrest frame (1) with bracket (8)

On vehicles with code (S21) Lumbar support (FFO) and when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

19.1

Latch adjustment unit (6) of spring frame (10) into place in backrest frame (1) and fasten with rivet (11)

On vehicles with code (S21) Lumbar support (FFO) and when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

20.1

Latch spring frame (13) into place in seat cushion frame (12)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

Clip covers (14) into seat cushion frame (12)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

22.1

Latch backrest frame (1) into place in seat cushion frame (12) in horizontal position

On vehicles with code (S31) Lounge front seat system (FFO) and when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

22.2

Latch backrest frame (1) into place in seat cushion frame (12) while backrest frame is slightly tilted forward

On vehicles without code (S31) Lounge front seat system (FFO) and when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).

23.1

Tighten bolt (16) with sleeve (15)

Only when installing new backrest frame (1) and seat frame (18).



Move backrest frame (1) into the vertical position
