Remove/install

 Warning

Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Disconnect ground line of battery

Open zipper on outer cover of front seat backrest

Unscrew nut (1)

 Nut, sidebag to backrest frame

Slide sidebag unit (2) downward and unhook from seat backrest frame (6)

 Installation: Electric lines (3) must run between the holder (4) and sidebag unit (2).

Pull out lock (5) and disconnect connector coupling for front left side airbag squib (R12/20x1) or connector coupling for front right side airbag squib (R12/21x1)

Remove sidebag unit (2)

 Dispose of defective airbag unit and seat belt tensioner properly and in an environmentally-appropriate way.

Install in the reverse order

Read out fault memory and delete errors


