Remove and install heat exchanger

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Set air conditioning to defrosting.

 To enable the left air pipe (3) to be removed.

Drain coolant at radiator

Remove dashboard

Remove center console

Remove evaporator temperature sensor

 Do not disconnect electrical connector from evaporator temperature sensor.

Undo instrument panel carrier (1) and lift towards the front

 Do not disconnect electrical leads. Detach bolts only as far as is necessary to lift up instrument panel carrier (1) towards the front and to pull heat exchanger (6) out at the side of the air conditioner housing.

Remove bolts (2), remove left air pipe (3) from air conditioner housing and place on the vehicle floor

 Do not disconnect electrical connector from left footwell flap actuator motor.

Remove bolts (4), loosen line clamps, and detach coolant lines from heat exchanger (6)

 Removal: Seal coolant lines with appropriate plugs.

 Installation: Line clamps with bolts (4) and sealing rings (7) must be replaced.

Remove bolts (5) and pull heat exchanger (6) out at side of air conditioner housing

 Lift up instrument panel carrier (1) only until the heat exchanger (6) can be pulled out to the side.

Install in the reverse order
