| Removing | ||
1 | Remove intake air duct (1)
2 | Suction off the oil from the reservoir of the power steering pump (2) | Hand pump
3 | Unscrew high pressure line (3) from power steering pump | Place a suitable container underneath to collect the discharged oil.
4 | Screw adapter line (4) of testing unit onto power steering pump | Testing unit
5 | Screw connection fitting (5) onto high pressure line (3) | Connection fitting
6 | Screw pressure gauge (7) of testing unit onto adapter line (4) | Testing unit
7 | Screw on shutoff valve (6) of testing unit between pressure gauge (7) and adapter line (4) | Testing unit
8 | Align test device and tighten all threaded connections | Position the test device in such a way that it will not come into contact with moving parts (e.g. fan or poly-V-belt) when the engine is started.
9 | Fill reservoir of power steering pump (2)
| Check and correct power steering fluid level | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
10 | Start engine | ||
11 | Increase motor speed to approx. 1000 rpm
| Checking | ||
12 | Close shutoff valve (6) and check delivery pressure | Only carry out the test briefly so that the oil temperature does not rise unacceptably.
13 | Turn off engine | ||
14 | Suction off the oil from the reservoir of the power steering pump (2) | Hand pump
15 | Detach test device | Place a suitable container underneath to collect the discharged oil.
| Install | ||
16 | Screw high pressure line (3) onto power steering pump
Engine 642 | |||
Engine 156 | |||
Engine 113, 272 | |||
17 | Fill reservoir of power steering pump (2)
| Check and correct power steering fluid level | ||
18 | Bleed steering system
19 | Check threaded connection of high pressure line (3) on power steering pump for leaks | Carry out visual inspection.
20 | Install intake air duct (1) |
