Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Open engine hood and raise to vertical position

Unscrew union nut for pressure circuit brake line (4) and union nut for secondary brake circuit brake line (5)


Seal connections with stop plugs,
in order to prevent the brake fluid from escaping.


Collect escaping brake fluid with a lint-free, absorbent rag. Seal brake lines and line connections at ESP hydraulic unit (3) immediately with stop plugs
in order to prevent the ingress of foreign objects.

 Mark brake line relative to corresponding connection before unscrewing.

Remove partition wall between wheel wells

Remove bolts (6)

Remove injection system control unit

Only for engine 156, 642.

Unscrew nuts (8)

Only with engine 113 and engine 642.

Unclip electrical connection (9)

Only with engine 113, 156 and engine 642.

 In engine 642, 2 electrical connectors are secured at the holder (7) which have to both be unclipped.

 Do not disconnect electrically.

Lay holder (10) upward out of working area

Only with engine 113, 156 and engine 642.

Unscrew union nut for pressure circuit brake line (11) and union nut for secondary brake circuit brake line (12)


Seal connections with stop plugs,
in order to prevent the brake fluid from escaping.


Collect escaping brake fluid with a lint-free, absorbent rag. Seal brake lines and line connections at ESP hydraulic unit (3) immediately with stop plugs
in order to prevent the ingress of foreign objects.

 Risk of confusion! Mark brake line relative to corresponding connection before unscrewing.
