| Rear axle - oil change | ||
2 | Remove rear axle shafts | ||
3 | Remove propeller shaft | ||
4 | Remove left combination cylinder | ||
5 | Remove differential assembly. | ||
6 | Attach differential assembly to an assembly device | ||
7 | Remove cotter pins (1) | ||
8 | Identify bearing cap (4) and | ||
9 | Loosen bolts (2) and unscrew ring nuts (5) | ||
10 | Remove bearing cap (4). | ||
11 | Identify tapered roller bearing (7) and bearing outer races (6) relative to one another | ||
12 | Remove ring gear with differential (8) and bearing outer races (6) | ||
| Install | ||
13 | Oil all bearing points | ||
| Notes on operating fluids | ||
14 | Install ring gear with differential (8) and bearing outer races (6) | Observe identification of bearing outer races (6). | |
15 | Insert ring nuts (5) | ||
16 | Install bearing cap (4) | Pay attention to marking. Screw in bolts (2) to approx. 30 Nm only first. | |
17 | Screw in ring nuts (5) until they abut the bearing outer races (6) | In the process turn the ring gear with differential (8). This centers the tapered roller bearings (7). | |
18 | Adjust gear backlash at differential assembly | ||
19 | Install differential assembly | ||
20 | Install left combination cylinder | ||
21 | Install propeller shaft | ||
22 | Install rear axle shafts | ||
23 | Fill rear axle with oil | ||
| Rear axle - oil change | ||
24 | Adjust clearance at rear axle |
