Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off during lifting | Only lift vehicle at the lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Warning | Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components.
Topical note | Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts
| Remove/install | ||
1 | Lock rear axle in straight-ahead position. | See manufacturer information.
2 | Secure front wheels with chocks to prevent vehicle from rolling away.
3 | Release parking brake.
4 | Mechanically loosen combination brake cylinder.
5 | Remove compressed-air lines (7) for service brake from left and right combination brake cylinder.
6 | Operate parking brake.
7 | Mark separating point of compressed-air lines (1) relative to each other.
8 | Disconnect compressed-air lines (1) for spring-loaded brake cylinders from overload protection valve (16.05). | Only on model 405.103/122/123/201/221
Installation: Note attached markings.
9 | Expose subharness (3) and compressed-air lines (1) on right trailing arm (5). | Installation: Replace cable ties.
10 | Mark electrical connectors (4) relative to one another.
11 | Disconnect electrical connectors (4) of lines for brake pad wear display and ABS lines. | Installation: Note attached markings.
12 | Disconnect compressed-air line from differential lock.
13 | Expose bleed lines on rear axle.
14 | Unhook linkage (6) from ALB controller. | Only on rear axle 747.584/593 in model 405.105/110/125/202/222 up to vehicle identification end number 253218, rear axle 747.582/584/593 in model 405.103/122/123/201/221
15 | Remove propeller shaft from flange of axle drive. | Bolt, propeller shaft to rear axle output shaft flange
16 | Detach trailing arms (2, 5) from rear axle and remove left and right shims. | Bolt for trailing arm at rear axle
17 | Remove pilot bushings of trailing arms (2, 5) from rear axle.
18 | Check pilot bushings of trailing arms (2, 5) for wear. | If problems are found,
| |||
replace pilot bushings.
19 | Remove compressed-air line (10) from steering cylinder.
