Inspect steering knuckle

Remove/install

Secure vehicle against rolling

Remove front wheels.

 When removing the front wheels, the vehicle must be supported at the jacking points provided.

 Installation: adjust wheel stop bolts.

Press off brake drum with two bolts

 Identify position of brake drum to wheel hub with center punch mark.

Remove front wheel hub

Remove steering knuckle

Dismantle steering knuckle

AR33.25-A-0350A

Checking

Make visual inspection for cracks

 If cracks are visible, replace upright.

Check bearing bushing hole dia. in steering knuckle (A)

 If the measured value is outside the tolerance, replace the upright.

Check bearing seat dia. inner (B)

 If the measured value is outside the tolerance, replace the upright.

Check bearing seat dia. outer (C)

 If the measured value is outside the tolerance, replace the upright.

Check concentricity of steering knuckle

 Center steering knuckle on a lathe. If the measured value is outside the tolerance, replace the upright.
