| Remove | ||
1 | Put the vehicle in a flat and leveled floor. Choke the front wheels to avoid that the vehicle moves accidentally | if the vehicle is loaded, take due care during its lifting operation.
2 | Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn the general switch off | Loose the screw of the negative cable of the frame rail, avoiding to loose the battery terminals too.
3 | Unfasten the front shock absorbers at their lower fastenings | The surplus of travels damages the shock absorbers.
Danger! | Risk of death due to the sliding or of the vehicle tumbling down from the lifter | Position the vehicle on an appropriate lift so the front axle wheels, rear drive and driven axle wheels remain supported safely on the support plates of the elevator, at the lifting points determined by the vehicle manufacturer.
4 | Lift slightly the vehicle at both sides by the longitudinal members, in such a way that the stabilizer remains free of pressure to enable the articulations removal | At this point, support the vehicle on racks placed safety in such a way that enables the removal of the stabilizer.
5 | Remove from the side rods (shackles), from the upper and lower articulations, the self-locking nuts (10.1), the bolts(10) and remove the side rods (shackles), (8)
6 | Remove the self-locking nuts (10.3), the central bolts (10.2), the spacer bushings (9) and separate the rods (8) that form the side shackles
7 | Remove the bolts (6), the washers (17) and remove the bearing caps (5)
8 | Remove the stabilizer bar (1) and the split mounts (4.1)
9 | Remove the mounts (11) and the spacer bushings (20) from the supports (12) fastened to the longitudinal members | The upper mounts (11) are lodged in the metallic bushings (18) integrated to the supports (12).
10 | If necessary remove the support (12) from the longitudinal member rod (3), remove the bolts(14), the self-locking nuts (13) and the reinforcement plate (15) | In the case of riveted supports, drill the rivets and install bolts and self-locking nuts of the same diameter as the rivets.
11 | Remove the mounts (19) and the spacer bushings (20) from the stabilizer bar (1) eye bolts (7)
| Check | ||
12 | Check all the articulation and bearing components | Replace: Articulation mounts (19) and (11). Bearings' split mounts (4.1). Self locking nuts, all of them.
Articulation bolts and other components, if necessary. Stabilizer bar (1) deformed at the eye bolts (7) or in the body.
| Install | ||
13 | Insert the new mounts (19) in the stabilizer bar's (1) eye bolts (7) and the upper mounts (11) in the metallic lodging bushings (18) | Lubricate slightly the mounts with Vaseline and use a vise with protected jaws. For the upper mounts (11), if necessary, use a manual clip of the “G” type.
14 | Install the stabilizer bar with the new split mounts (4.1), the bearing caps (5) and the bolts (6) with the new washers (17) | The unions of the split mounts (4.1) must be parallel to the soil, even if they coincide with the union of the bearing cap (5) with the supports (4).
Slightly lubricate internally the mounts with Vaseline.
15 | Tighten the bearing caps' bolts (6) up to the specified torque
Once the bearings have been tightened, the stabilizer bar must turn, even if with some difficulty.
16 | If the support (12) has been removed from the longitudinal member, install it with the reinforcement plate (15), the bolts (14) and new nuts (13)
17 | Install the side rod (8) with the spacer bushing (9), the central bolt (10.2) and tighten the new self-locking nut (10.3)
18 | Install the bolts (10) in the upper and lower articulations and tighten the new self-locking nuts (10.1) | During the replacement of the bolts and nuts, pay attention to the required quality, which must be 10.9.
| |||
19 | Lift the vehicle and remove the racks from the longitudinal members
20 | Fasten the rear shock absorbers to the respective lower supports |
