Important preliminary information and measures

Due to the large quantity of components comprising the assembly formed by the ENR system control valve ENR (ECAS), it has been divided in two blocks, the two blocks are identified by the markings engraved on the solenoid valves:

I = Block one

II = Block two

The identifications I and II are engraved on the solenoid valves beside the 4-pin outlet of each block.

The sealing rings supplied with the repair kit are always measured by the inside diameter and in the thickness of the cylindrical part.

To disassemble the control valve assembly, utilize a clean workbench, duly lined with a light color paper sheet to facilitate the identification of the large quantity of components

Disassemble, clean and lubricate first the block II and then the block I

The only permissible lubricant is supplied with the repair kit. Pay special attention to measurements, thickness and assembly of the sealing rings (2), (3), (7), (12), (13), (21) and to the position of the springs.

Disassemble the Block II

1

Remove the control valve assembly from the ENR (ECAS) of the vehicle

Before removing the control valve assembly from the vehicle, mark the pipes, take note of the colors of the identification rings corresponding to the number engraved in each connection.

2

Separate the two blocks fastened by the cylindrical rubber bushing (41) that connects the communication of the block I with the block II

Hold one of the blocks and pull the other one out.

3

Remove the 4 cross slotted head screws (16) and remove the cover (15)

4

Remove the annular gasket (14)

5

Remove from the block II, the solenoid valve (11) complete with internal valves installed

The solenoid valve has the mark II engraved beside the 4-pin connector on the side of the damper (24).

6

Remove the sealing rings (12) and (13) from the housings in the top cover and next remove: The cross slotted head screws (10), the top cover (9) and the rubber gasket (8)

7

Remove the two blue color pistons (5), the black color piston (6) and its spring (4)

Remove the sealing rings (6) and (7) of the three pistons

The sealing rings (6) and (7) of the three pistons are equal.

8

Remove the cross slotted head screws (23) and lift off: The bottom cover (22), the valves (17), the plate type shims (16) and (18), the two thicker springs (19), the thinner spring (20) and the sealing rings (21)

Pay attention to the assembly position of the shims (16), (18) and to the size of the springs (19) and (20).

9

With a thin screwdriver with a bent and rounded tip, remove the sealing rings from their housing in the center body (1)

Be specially careful in order not to damage the seats.

Clean

To clean the parts utilize appropriate products

Oil based products and solvents damage rubber and rubber based components.

If jets of compressed air will be utilized, it has to be clean and dry and, applied at moderate pressure.

10

Clean and dry all components

The used components that correspond to the repair kit can be separated as they will be replaced.

Check:

11

Check the condition of the sealing seats and the remaining metal made components of the control valve

Beside the repair kit components, replace what needs to be replaced.

Assemble the Block II

Attention

Lubricate the components with a thin layer of lubricant from the repair kit

Do not utilize any other type of lubricant.

12

Install inside the block (1) the two sealing rings (2, 3)

Check the measurements (internal) and the corresponding thickness.

13

Install in the seats of the center body (1) the new valves (17) and the shims (18) in the correct position

Observe the correct position, the center rounded bulge has to be turned to the springs.

14

Install the two springs (19) and the spring (20)

The spring (20) is thinner and longer.

15

Place the center body (1) upside down and install in it, the new sealing rings (21)

Confirm the measurement (internal) and the corresponding thickness of the sealing rings.

16

Install the bottom cover (22), exert pressure on the same and install and gradually tighten the cross slotted head screws (23)

Observe the correct length of the screws.

17

Install the new sealing rings on the 3 lubricated pistons. Turn up the center body II (1) and insert in it, the two blue color pistons (5), the spring (4) and the black color piston (6)

Confirm the measurements of the piston sealing rings.

18

Place the new rubber gasket (8) over the face of the center body II (1) and install on it, the top cover (9). Exert pressure on the cover and tighten the 4 slotted head screws (10)

Confirm the correct position of the rubber gasket (8).

*BA32.33-B-1001-01A

19

Install, lubricated, the 3 new sealing rings (13) and the small sealing ring (12), in the housings of the top cover (9)

Confirm the measurements of the sealing rings (12) and (13).

20

Check the 3 pistons with the respective internal valves inserted in the solenoid valve body (11) of the block II

Install the new annular gasket (14)

Confirm the correct position of the valves and the fitting of the annular gasket (14) in the solenoid valve body.

21

Install the complete solenoid valve (11) over the top cover (9). Install the cover (15) and tighten the 4 cross slotted head screws (16)

Confirm the correct screw measurement.

*BA32.33-B-1002-01A

22

Install the damper (24)

23

Put a new sealing ring (25) and tighten the plug (26)

*BA32.33-B-1005-01A

24

Insert the two hex head bolts (27).

Confirm the correct screw measurement.
