Remove

Remove left front engine compartment lining

Release and disconnect electrical connectors (2, 3) at AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1)

Unhook bracket (11) on AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1)

Open the bracket (5) and unhook air intake hose (4)

Detach air intake hose (4) from AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs

 Record plug

Remove pressure line connection (6) on AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs

 Record plug

Unscrew nuts (7) and remove AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) downwards



Check

8

Check bracket (10) for damage

If a problem arises



Replace bracket (10).

Check the elastomer bearings (8a) for damage and wear

If a problem arises



Replace the elastomer bearings (8a).

Install

Place shims (8b) and protective sleeve (8e) on elastomer bearings (8a)

Place elastomer bearings (8f) on protective sleeves (8g)

 The outer lip of the elastomer bearings (8f) must enclose the disks of the protective sleeves (8g) around the entire circumference.

Fit compression springs (8d) on protective sleeves (8c, 8g)

Position protective sleeves (8c, 8g) with compression springs (8d) in elastomer bearings (8a)

Position AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) and tighten nuts (7)

 Nut, compressor mounting to compressor unit bracket

Remove all stop plugs

Mount compressed air line connection (6) onto AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1)


The thread on pressure line connection (6) must not be damaged.
Otherwise, leaks will occur.

Repair pressure line connection (6).

Attach air intake hose (4) to AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1)

Hook air intake hose (4) into bracket (5) and close bracket (5)

Hook bracket (11) onto AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1)

Plug electrical connectors (2, 3) onto AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) and lock

Replace AIR BODY CONTROL relay

When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).



Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform an engine test run and check air suspension for proper operation

Check all compressed air connections at AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) for leak tightness
