Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death from lowering vehicle when working between wheels and body. Risk of injury from pinching or crushing when working on the air suspension.

Do not work between wheels and wheel wells or in wheel box.

Only perform testing and adjustment operations from below the vehicle.

Secure areas with moving vehicle parts against unauthorized access.

Deactivate air suspension

Raise vehicle

Disconnect air intake hose (2) from level control compressor (A9/1)

 Seal off connections with plugs.



Unscrew compressed air hose (5) from pressure relief valve for air compressor (A9/1y1)

 Seal off connections with plugs.



Disconnect electrical connectors (3, 4) from air compressor motor (A9/1m1) and on pressure relief valve for air compressor (A9/1y1)

Remove level control compressor (A9/1)

 Remove level control compressor (A9/1) with spacer sleeves (9), springs (8), rubber mounts (7) and disks (6) from carrier plate (1).



Checking

Check rubber mounts (7) for damage and wear

 If damaged or worn, install new rubber mounts (7).

Install in the reverse order

Check air suspension for leaks

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS

 Only when replacing level control compressor (A9/1).

Initialize level control compressor (A9/1)

 Only when replacing level control compressor (A9/1).

Menu: control unit adaptations  initialization after exchanging components

Clear fault memory

 Only when replacing level control compressor (A9/1).
