2

Secure the spring in a vise with protection jaws and, at the spring rear end, remove from the clamp (12) the self-locking nut (14), the closing screw (13) and the spacer bushing (15)

3

Remove the master screw self-locking nut (5) and the spring master screw (4)

Insert a long pin in place of the spring master screw (4) to remove the metal shim (10), the leaves (7), (8), and (9) and the metal separators (6).

Check

9

Thoroughly clean all the spring components

Do not wash spring leaves with water jets nor with acid. Dry clean the blades.
If oxidation occurs, remove it with a fine wire brush and apply adequate protection.

The original springs are painted with zinc based paint.

Spring leaves cannot be welded nor ground under any circumstance.

10

Inspect the spring leaves and other components for their condition

Replace:

Dented or deformed leaves;

Deformed clamps;

Self-locking nut for the master screw (5) and the self-locking nut for the clamp closing screw (14).

Assemble

11

Replace the joint bushings (3) of the adapters of the master leaf (2) and the shackle.

Utilize an appropriate mandrel and a shop press.

Installation: Center the bushings (3) in relation to the adapters edges (2).

12

Install new polyethylene inserts (11) on the third blade (9) and the lower metal separator (6)

Installation: Check that the polyethylene pads (11) are perfectly seated.

Grease the entire surface of the spring leaf (9) and the metal separator (6).

Grease, 6820.20

14

Install the master leaf (7) with the adapter (2) inside the circle of the second leaf (8) and mount the metal shim (10)

Use as guide a pin of the same diameter of the king-screw (4), that can be secured in a vise to permit that the spring pack be assembled standing, i.e, in the working position.

15

Fit the spacer bushing (15), a new clamp closing screw (13) and a new self-locking nut (14) on the riveted clamp on the fourth blade (12)

Lock nut of the front crossbow clamp
