| Disassemble | ||
| Support rear housing set on an appropriate counter or easel under the planetary gear set (39)
| Remove screws that fixate high/low selector cylinder cover to the rear part of the housing and remove cover
| Remove nut (16) . Remove piston (12)
| Remove nut from exit flange (35) and flange (34) | The flange housing has and interference adjustment by the internal bearing race
| Carefully elevate housing (8) so that the exit axle slides out of the bearing and the high/low selector rod slides out of the sleeve
| Remove selection fork set (46) from the synchronizer coupling sleeve. Remove activation gear of the speedometer (21) and the spacer (22)
| Remove synchronizing ring (42)
| remove sleeve, ring gear and its set | Identify alignment of the coupling sleeve with the synchronizer pistons (51)
| Remove pistons (51), springs (52) and rollers (50) from the hub (53). Remove elastic ring (56) | Note the position of the spring and roller pistons
| Invert the set and at the same time you hold the hub (53), lean the axle extremity on a wood block in order to remove with light hits, the hub (53) and the bearing (54) out of the axle
| Remove elastic ring (41)
| Remove synchronizing flange (40)
| Remove screws (1) and washers (2)
| Remove reaction plate (3) and the synchronizing flange (4)
| Remove spacer (6) | If necessary, remove retainer ring (5)
| Remove screws from oil sealing support (29), the speedometer housing (27) and the oil sealing support (29)
| Remove speedometer housing (27) | If necessary, remove bearing (28) from housing with an appropriate extractor
| Remove elastic ring (55) from the high/low synchronizer bearing hub (53) and remove bearing (54)
| Insert a rivet/steel pin (2 to 2.3 mm in diameter and 10 mm long) in at least three of the ring gear openings to guarantee they are adjacent to the internal elastic ring
| Tighten a large hose securing clip around the rivets/pins and press the elastic ring (47) inside the sleeve (48)
| Slide (48) out of the ring gear (43)
| Apart high/low selection fork (46) from the piston rod (44) pushing the spring pin (45) with appropriate strength
| Remove rear power inlet cover (36)
| Assemble | ||
| Support high/low selection fork and install piston rod, with screwed extremity to the flat side of the fork
| Fixate the set in a vise with the screwed end of the selection fork to the left and the lock system retainer pointing at the operator | Align the fixation pins openings. Install a new spring pin (45)
| Install elastic ring (49) on the high/low synchronizing hub (53) and place the hub on the elastic ring
| install second elastic ring (55) to fixate the hub bearing
| Place the ring gear (43) with its flat side down on a clean counter. Place elastic ring (47) on sleeve (48) an put it on the ring gear | Align elastic ring so that its ends are placed among any of the ring gear openings
| Press elastic ring (47) and push sleeve (48) until the ring expands inside the ring gear locking both parts together | If necessary, use a hose securing clip to press the elastic ring
| Place the planetary gear support set (39) on a secure easel. Place the synchronizing flange (40) on the guide grooves and install retaining ring (41)
| Place synchronizing ring (42) on the flange (40). Firmly press the cone down and measure the looseness between the ring and the flange using feeler gauges | If the looseness is out of specification, replace flange and ring
| Place synchronizing hub (53) and the axle bearing aligning the hub slits with the synchronizing ring rims | Use a rubber hammer and hit so that the bearing is fit into the right position
| Install retainer ring (56)
| Install pistons (51) into the slits and slide the ring gear set (43) and coupling sleeve (48) onto the planetary gears | Align the sleeve marks with the central slit of every three hub slit groups
| Support the sleeve (48) and install the rollers (50) of the synchronizer in the channel, over the piston heads (51). Press sleeve down into neutral position
| Place synchronizer ring (42) into hub (53)
| Support rear housing (8) on wood shims and place spacer (6) in the recess
| Install elastic ring (5) in the external notch of the synchronizer flange (4)
| Place synchronizer flange (4) and elastic ring in the spacer (6)
| Place the reaction plate (3) on the synchronizer flange grooves (4)
| Install screws (1) and washers (2)
| Position selection fork (46) and the rod set (44) on the synchronizer sleeve (48) with the axle screwed end upwards
| Invert housing and place it on the exit axle and the selection fork
| Place activation gear of the speedometer (21) and the spacer (22) in the exit axle
| Install bearing (28) of the exit axle on the housing using a rubber hammer and an appropriate tool
| Install a new oil sealing (30) on the support
| Place housing (27)/bearing (28) set on the axle against the housing | Apply sealing to the housing face
| Install the oil sealer (30) and the support set | Apply sealing to the bearing housing face
| Apply a thin layer of grease to the internal oil sealer perimeter and install exit flange (34) | The flange hub adjusts inside the bearing race
| Apply sealing product and install rear power inlet opening cover (36)
