1 Filler neck cap
2 Expansion tank
3 Leak tightness analyser
3.1 Input connection, quick release coupling
3.2 Discharge valve
3.3 Input pressure valve
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes resulting from burns caused by overheated vapor or coolant. Risk of poisoning by coolant ingestion | Open the cooling system only at temperatures below 90 °C. Cautiously open the filler cap to release excess pressure. Coolant must not be stored in beverage or drinking water containers. Wear gloves, adequate clothing and safety goggles.
1 | Remove filler cap (1) from expansion tank (2).
2 | Adjust heating control to the open position. | Vehicle equipped with heating system.
| Check | ||
3 | Check coolant level. | Replenish as necessary .
4 | Mount leak tightness analyser (3) on tank filler neck (2). | Make sure that analyzer (3) is firmly attached to filler neck (2).
| |||
5 | Connect an air compression line to input connection (3.1) of analyzer (3). | The air compression line must be equipped with an open/shut control valve.
6 | Apply 1.0 bar of pressure to the system, control by means of adjuster (3.3). | Close air input by air compression control valve as soon as test pressure (1.0 bar) is reached.
7 | Verify system leak tightness observing pressure readings on analyser pressure gauge (3). | If pressure falls, as indicated by analyzer pressure gauge (3), check engine, water pump, hoses, tubings, connections, radiator, cooling system expansion tank, and heating system for leakages.
8 | Release system pressure through discharge valve (3.2) and remove analyzer (3). | Disconnect air compression line from analyzer input connection (3.1).
| |||
9 | Repair leakages in cooling and heating systems. | Tighten or replace all clamps. Replace hoses or tubes. Repair or replace radiator, water pump, expansion tank and eliminate engine leaks.
10 | Mount filler cap (1) on expansion tank (2). | Restore coolant level as necessary. |
