1 | Remove the oil pan | For engines 372.9, 374.9, 376.9, 377.9, 386.9. | |

2 | Remove the oil pump (1) | Catch the oil. | |

3 | Unscrew the bolts (4) and remove the pickup tube “strainer” (3) | Secure the oil pump in a vise using aluminum made jaws. | |

4 | Unscrew the plug and lift out the pressure limiting valve components (6) | ||
5 | Unscrew the bolts (7) and remove the pump cover (5). | | |
6 | Remove the driven gear (12). | Check the gear for condition controlling the measurements, if necessary replace them: | |
Inside diameter of the driven gear. | |||
Height of the pump gears. | |||
Radial clearance between driven gear and fixed shaft. | |||
Clearance between the gears and the pump cover. | |||
Clearance between the pump gear teeth | |||
Clearance between the pump gears and the housing. | |||
7 | Remove the helical gear (8) | Installing: Install the helical gear on the shaft at the determined height “D”, check the clearances: | |
Gear assembly height (D). | |||
Clearance between the helical gears of camshaft and pump. | |||
8 | Remove the intermediate gear (10) from the shaft (9) | Check the gear for condition controlling the measurements, if necessary replace them: | |
Height of the pump gears. | |||
Intermediate gear inside diameter. | |||
Diameter of drive shaft. | |||
Intermediate gear interference fit on drive shaft. | |||
Diameter “A” of drive shaft housing. | |||
Radial clearance between drive shaft and housing. | |||
Distance “E” between the drive shaft and the pump cover. | |||
9 | Remove the fixed shaft (11) from the pump case | Check the shaft for condition and if necessary replace it. | |
Check the assembly measurements: | |||
Gears housing height in the case. | |||
Diameter “B” of the fixed shaft housing. | |||
Diameter of the fixed shaft | |||
Fixed shaft interference fit in housing. | |||
Assembly height “C” of the fixed shaft. | |||
10 | Install in reverse order | After the oil pump assembly, proceed testing the discharge and pressure, utilizing: | |
Lubricant oil indicated for the test SAE 10 W. | |||
Oil temperature. | |||
Oil counterpressure. | |||
Minimum oil discharge (liter/min). |
