Modification notes
| Remove/install | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. | When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts.
1 | Open engine hood | ||
2 | Remove air filter housing
3 | Loosen hose clamps (1,3) at charge air hose (2) and at engine charge air duct downstream of charge air cooler (4) | Tighten the hose clamps (1,3) using the prescribed torque so that the charge air cooler (6) can separate from the engine charge air ducts in the event of an accident.
Hose clamp of charge air hose at engine charge air duct and at charge air cooler
Hose clamp of charge air duct downstream of charge air cooler at charge air cooler and at actuator of electronic accelerator
4 | Remove bolts (5) | Do not close off the coolant hoses to the charge air cooler (6):
| |||
5 | Lift charge air cooler (6) from the charge air hose (2) and remove from the engine charge air duct downstream of the charge air cooler (4) | Do not damage the coolant hoses running to the charge air cooler (6).
6 | Pull out the plug (arrow) for the electrical connection
7 | Remove camshaft Hall sensor, right bank of cylinders (B6/3) | Installation: Check the sealing ring, replace if required.
| |||
8 | Install in the reverse order
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
9 | Run engine and inspect for oil leaks
10 | Read out fault memory
| Connect up STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory |
