| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove upper engine cover.
| |||
Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.
2 | Remove air filter housing.
3 | Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter.
4 | Remove top cylinder head cover trim.
5 | Remove charge air hose downstream of the liquid-cooled charge air cooler.
6 | Release and disconnect electrical connectors (1 to 5).
7 | Remove cable ties (6) from the bracket and place electrical wiring harness (7) to one side.
8 | Release low-pressure lines of the fuel system on the engine side and lift with connected fuel lines.
| |||
9 | Remove screw/bolt (8). | Bolt, holder to intake air throttling
10 | Remove screws (9) and remove throttle valve actuator (M16/6). | Installation: Install new sealing ring on throttle valve actuator (M16/6).

11 | Seal openings on engine and on throttle valve actuator (M16/6) with suitable protective covers. | Set of protective caps
12 | Install in the reverse order.
13 | Perform commissioning of CDI control unit (N3/9).
| |||
| Check | ||
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
Warning | Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. | Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.
14 | Perform engine test run; in doing so, check engine for proper operation and check intake system for leak tightness. |
