Remove

1

Remove charge air line from check valve to additional compressor.

Remove fuel high-pressure pump.

Pierce cap (1) at center and pry out.


Do not pry out cap (1) at side.
Timing case cover (5) will otherwise be damaged.

Release screw (14).

Remove lower slide rail.

Mark running direction of timing chain and remove timing chain.

Mark running direction of major assembly chain (16) and remove major assembly chain (16).

Install thrust piece of sleeve (2) at drive gear (15).

 Screw in pressure screw (4) until drive gear (15) detaches from fuel high-pressure pump shaft. For this purpose, counterhold thrust piece of   sleeve (2).

Remove drive gear (15).



Install

Position major assembly chain (16) on drive gear (15).

 Observe applied marking for running direction.

Install drive gear (15) and manually slightly tighten screw (14).

 Observe the guide notch.

Determine clearance between flange contact surface and pump roller tappet of fuel high-pressure pump.

If clearance is not OK,



Further turn drive gear (15) of fuel high-pressure pump in direction of engine rotation until clearance is OK.

Mount timing chain.

 Observe applied marking for running direction.

Install lower slide rail.

Tighten screw (14) on drive gear (15).

Install cap (1).

 Replace cap (1).

Install fuel high-pressure pump.
