Danger | Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) | Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
Warning | Risk of injury caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving.
1 | Switch off ignition; detach ignition key (transmitter key) | On vehicles with Keyless-Go, code 889: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off.
Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it at a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).
2 | Open hood | ||
3 | Remove partition wall between wheel wells
4 | Connect up compression recorder (01)

5 | Crank engine with starter | Turn engine by pressing the contact switch (01a) on the compression recorder (01).
6 | Install in the reverse order
7 | Read out fault memory and clear if necessary
| |||
If the ignition was switched on during the process.
Stored faults entries which may have been caused by disconnecting lines or by a simulation must be erased in the fault memory after completing the work. |
