1 | Engine must be at operating temperature (approx. 80 °C) | Test compression pressure when engine is at normal operating temperature. | |
2 | Turn off engine | ||
3 | Remove glow plugs (R9) | ||
4 | Crank engine with starter | Do not crank engine at ignition/starter switch but use contact switch of compression recorder (1). Crank engine several times with the starter in order to eliminate combustion residues in the cylinder. | |
5 | Insert screwed-in fitting (3) with check valve installed into glow plug hole of cylinder to be tested. | Screw-in fitting | |

6 | Connect compression recorder (1) with connection line (2) to screw-in fitting (3) | Compression recorder | |

7 | Test compression pressure by cranking engine with starter for at least 8 revolutions | Do not crank engine at ignition/starter switch but use contact switch of compression recorder (1). | |
8 | Carry out test procedure at remaining cylinders in the same way | ||
9 | Compare pressure readings obtained with specified pressures | Compression pressure new value | |
