Remove/install

Bring engine to operating temperature (approx. 80 °C)

Check seal after engine operating temperature is reached.

Switch off engine and remove ignition key

Remove glow plugs (R13, R14, R15, R16)

Install in the reverse order

Crank engine with starter

Use button on compression tester (1) to crank; not ignition/starter switch. Remove the electrical connector at the pressure regulator valve (Y74)

Crank engine several times using the starter to eliminate fuel residues in the cylinder.

Connect the compression recorder (1) using a socket (2)

Screw on the screw-in piece (3) with the retention valve, which is installed in the glow plug bore of the cylinder to be checked.

Crank engine with starter

Use button on compression tester (1) to crank; not ignition/starter switch.

Start for at least 5 seconds.

Compare measured pressure values with specified test values.

If the pressure drops below the minimum value or the permissible difference between the individual cylinders is exceeded

Check cylinder for leakage.
