No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove/install

Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key

Remove fuel injectors

Move piston of cylinder to be checked to bottom dead center (BDC)


Do not turn engine against direction of engine rotation.
Damage may occur otherwise.

 To do this rotate crankshaft at the belt pulley center bolt in direction of engine rotation.

Connect up light projector (1) and insert flexible endoscope (2) through bore for fuel injectors into the cylinder



Check

Check cylinder barrel for scoring



General information on inspecting cylinder walls

 If there is 'scoring' (wear to the cylinder), the cylinder barrel has become rough and honing marks are no longer visible.

To achieve more precise establishment of the damage as necessary:



Remove/install cylinder head

Check remaining cylinders in analogue fashion

Install in the reverse order
