In the case of excessive engine oil consumption or lack of engine power, generally this can be caused by damages due to the penetration of dust, or from normal wear.

Remove the pistons.

Check the intake manifold and the ducts between the air filter and the engine, for penetration of dust.

Heavy dust contamination in the duct elbows indicates false air inlet without passing through the filter.In engines with oil bath air filter, a fine layer of dust is permitted.

Check the pistons and cylinder running surfaces for wear (damages caused by dust).

Checking the running surfaces of the piston skirts and the honing of the cylinders, it is possible to identify if the damages were caused by dust.

Indications for the checking of damages in the cylinder caused by penetration of impurities.
