All connectors or plug-in connectors (red) of the squibs are designed with short-circuit bridges. When disconnected, the ignition circuit or squib is short-circuited. All work on the airbag and ETR restraint system can therefore be carried out with the ignition key removed.

Before starting welding work, remove ignition key and disconnect/insulate battery ground cable.

Before welding work in the passenger compartment/cargo area, it is absolutely essential to disconnect the coupling from the airbag emergency tensioning retractor control module (A10).

Cables, connectors and connections are also taken into account when testing with the HHT and in the event of a fault display may have to be checked again separately in accordance with the relevant electric wiring diagram for open-circuit, good contact and correct connection.

The fault memory can only be read out and erased with the Hand-Held Tester.
