Remedy/Test step

ESP MIL (A1e42) or ABS MIL (A1e17) illuminated with engine running

Read out fault memory

AD42.45-P-4000A

BAS/ESP malfunction indicator lamp (A1e47) or ABS MIL (A1e17) comes on while driving and does not go out again

Read out fault memory

AD42.45-P-4000A

ESP MIL (A1e42) or ABS MIL (A1e17) comes on while driving and goes out again

On-board voltage < 11V, too many electrical consumers in operation

Test generator (G2), read out fault memory

AD42.45-P-4000A

ESP MIL (A1e42) or ABS MIL (A1e17) not illuminated when ignition switched on

Read out fault memory

AD42.45-P-4000A

Read out fault memory of instrument cluster, HHT

ABS MIL (A1e17) illuminated with engine running after tests on brake test bench or roller dynamometer

Implausible speed signal due to different speeds at front and rear axle

Read out and erase fault memory

AD42.45-P-4000A

ESP MIL illuminated due to the following causes and fault code C1142 is displayed when reading out with the HHT.

Driving through sharp bends

In accidents involving rear-end impacts

Vehicle spinning round on a slippery road surface

Fault code can be ignored

Read out and erase fault memory

The ESP MIL (A1e42) comes on and, when reading out with the HHT, fault code C1142 and at least one other fault code between C1300 and 1311 is displayed.

Short-circuit of more than one solenoid valve in the hydraulic unit or wiring harness

If there is a short-circuit in 2 solenoid valves, the voltage supply to the solenoid valves is switched off.

Check all solenoid valves of the hydraulic unit and their supply leads for short-circuit
