Remove

Drain the oil from the front axle

Remove the differential cover from the front axle

Remove the adjustment bolt of the ring gear thrust (12) with the sliding pad (11)

Remove the bolts (1) and the lock plats (2) from the threaded rings

Loosen the counter-nuts and the pressure bolt (5) from the bushing cover (3)

Remove the bolts from the bushing covers (4)

Apply slight hits on the bushing covers (3) and remove them

 Mark the bushings covers, the threaded rings and the bearings so that, at the assembling, they are installed on the same side. Do not invert this parts assembling side.

Remove the threaded rings (6 and 10) and the external tracks of the bearings (7 and 9)

 The bearings tracks make an homogeneous assembling with the respective bearings and therefore can not be exchanged between them.

Remove the ring gear with the differential (8) from the front axle housing

 Tilt the ring gear a little so that it can slide along the pinion bearing support.



Check

Check if there is the fillings decomposition and other metallic residues in the housing cavity

In axles with oil deflectors, if necessary, remove the deflectors and clean the central housing and the transportation pipes. In the assembling, arrange the deflectors with the oil return holes turned down and lock them, with a pin, in three points displaced 120° among them.

Check the bearings, the threaded rings and the bushing covers for damages or wearing

Grease previously the assembling.

Check the wearing of the sliding pads (11) the adjustment bolts for the ring gear thrust

If necessary, replace the sliding pads

Check the ring gear eccentricity and squareness

Install

Install the ring gear with the differential (8) in the front axle housing

Install the external tracks of the bearings (7 and 9)

 If the same bearings are used, observe the made in the disassembling and assemble the external tracks of the bearings in the same side they were previously.

Install the threaded rings (6 and 10) and thread them until they thrust in the satellite box bearings (7 and 9)

 Observe the marking made in the disassembling and assemble the threaded rings on the same side they were previously.

Install the bearing covers (3)

 Observe the marking made in the disassembling and assemble the bearing covers on the same side they were previously. Pay attention to the coincidence of the screw threads for the threaded rings in the housing and the bushing covers.

Install the bushing covers bolts (4) and tighten them with the specified com torque

 Grease slightly the seating surface of the bolts head and apply sealing agent on the bolts that communicate with the atmosphere.

Observe that the threaded rings still can e turned after tightening the bushing cover bolts.

Adjust the play between the ring gear pinion assembly teeth
