| Remove | ||
1 | Put the vehicle on a flat and leveled floor where it will be possible to work with safety | Choke the front wheels of the vehicle to avoid its accidental movement. Take further care to lift the vehicle if the vehicle is load.
2 | Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn the general switch off | Disconnect the negative cable of the battery, unfastening its end from the chassis frame. Avoid to disconnect the negative cable end which is fastened to the battery.
3 | Unfasten the rear shock absorbers from their lower fastening | The shock absorbers must be unfastened at the lower fastening to avoid that they exceed their normal travel and get damaged when the vehicle is supported by its longitudinal members.
Danger! | Take care when lifting and lowering the vehicle in order to avoid accidents. | Risk of severe accidents.
4 | Lift the vehicle by its longitudinal members, equally at both sides, sufficiently to relief the stabilizer's tension and make possible to remove its articulations. | At this point, support he vehicle on racks placed conveniently under the longitudinal members to carry out safely the services.
5 | Unfasten the self locking nuts (10.1), remove the bolts (10) from the upper and lower articulations of the side rods (shackles), (8) from the stabilizer bar and remove the side rods plates
6 | Remove the self-locking nuts (10.3), the central bolts (10.2), the spacer bushings (9) and separate the rods (8) that form the side rods
7 | Remove the bolts (6), the washers (17) and remove the bearing caps (5)
8 | Remove the stabilizer bar (1) and the split mounts (4.1)
9 | If it is necessary to remove the supports (12) of the side rods (shackles) fastened to the longitudinal members: Unfasten the self-locking nuts (13), remove the bolts (14), and remove the support (12) and the reinforcement plate (15) | In the case of supports riveted on the longitudinal members, drill the rivets to remove them and during the assemblage, fasten the supports with bolts of the same diameter as the rivets and self-locking nuts, paying attention to have bolts and nuts of the 10.9. quality.
| Check | ||
10 | Check all the articulation components | Replace: Stabilizer bar (1) deformed at the eye bolts (7) or in the body Articulation mounts (19) and (11) Self locking nuts, all of them Articulation bolts (10), if necessary. Inner and outer plates (8) of the side rods, if necessary Pressure washers (17) of the bearing caps bolts.
11 | Insert the new mounts (19) in the adapters (eye bolts) (7) of the stabilizer bar (1) | Lubricate slightly the mounts with Vaseline and use a vise with jaws protected with aluminum or brass
| Install | ||
12 | Install the stabilizer bar with the new split mounts (4.1), the bearing caps (5) and the bolts (6) with the new pressure washers (7) | The split mounts unions (4.1) must be parallel to the soil, even if they coincide with the union of the bearing cap (5) with the supports (4).
13 | Tighten the bearing caps' bolts (6) up to the specified tightening moment
| |||
14 | If the supports (12) of the side rods (shackles) have been removed: Install the supports (12) with the reinforcement plates(15) and fasten them with the bolts (14) and the new self-locking nuts (13).
| |||
15 | Install the new mounts (11) inside the metallic bushing (18) which is an integrating part of the support (12) | Lubricate slightly the mount with Vaseline and if necessary use a 'G" type clip to install the mount in the bushing
16 | Install the plates (8) of the lateral rod (shackle) with the bushing (9), the central bolt (10.2) and the self-locking nut (10.3)
17 | Install the bolts (10) in the upper and lower articulations with the new self-locking nuts (10.1) | In the case of bolts and nuts replacement, pay attention to the required quality, which is 10.9.
18 | Tighten the self-locking nuts (10.1) and (10.3) up to the specified tightening moment
| |||
Danger! | Take care when lifting and lowering the vehicle in order to avoid accidents. | Risk of severe accidents.
19 | Lift the vehicle and remove the racks from the longitudinal members
20 | Fasten the rear shock absorbers to the respective lower supports
21 | Carry out a test drive with the vehicle |
