AR25.20-B-0070D | Bleed clutch operating system | 12.02.16 |
Vehicle 979.013, 979.016 with Cumbustion engine 612.983
Preliminary measures | |||
Position the vehicle in a suitable location that presents safety. | Shim the wheels to prevent unintentional movement. Do this in case of not using proper equipment.
Danger! | Note the safety measures concerning the vehicle.
The bleeder is located at the bottom of the right hand inside a small compartment closed by a rubber stopper.
Bleeding the system using the clutch pedal, besides taking too long, does not present satisfactory practical results. For this reason, we recommend that it is performed with a proper equipment for testing and bleeding the brakes.
| |||
Danger! | Note the safety instructions concerning the brake fluid
Bleed | |||
1 | Open the driver's left door and on the side, at the height of the panel, turn the two latches using an appropriate slide and remove the cover from the brake fluid reservoir compartment. | The slide should have the thickness of the latch slots in order not to damage the material.
Danger! | Maximum pressure supported by brake fluid compartment is 3 bar and maximum bleeding pressure is 1 bar. During bleeding, if the system is under pressure and the bleeder is closed, the clutch pedal will not be driven. | It is important to be aware of these values and procedures before performing bleeding on this type of clutch.
2 | Remove the cover and connect the bleeding equipment at the reservoir nozzle. | Operate the bleeding equipment filled with 1 bar.
| |||
3 | Remove the bleeder cap and install a transparent, flexible hose so that the drained liquid is stored in a suitable container. | Brake fluid must not be reused. Collect the fluid into a suitable container and dispose it ecologically according to the regulations in force.
4 | Apply pressure in the system, open the bleeder at least 45° and let out the brake fluid until there are no more air bubbles in the bleed tube. When performing full bleeding and brake fluid still remains in the reservoir, it should be pressed out, continuing to bleed to a minimum level in order to insert new fluid in the system. | During bleeding operation the reservoir must not exceed 'minimum' level: In this case, refill the reservoir to the "normal" level using specified brake fluid.
5 | Close the bleeder. | ||
6 | Relieve equipment pressure. | It is important to relieve the pressure of the test equipment before "Checking the clutch coupling point”. If coupling point is performed with system under pressure, the self-adjustment of the plateau can occur.
7 | Check the clutch coupling point. | The coupling point must be between and of the clutch pedal stroke. If coupling does not match, it is necessary to rebleed, repeating items 4; 5 ; 6 and 7.
8 | Detach the hose and the container. Tighten the bleeder and place the rubber pad.
9 | Place the rubber cap on the bleeder compartment door.
10 | Remove the bleeding equipment. | If necessary, refill the reservoir to the "normal" level using specified brake fluid. Do not put fluid in excess because it will fall into the vehicle cab.
11 | Check the system and bleeder for tightness. |
