Cab paintwork/corrosion protection
The preceding graphic portrays the corrosion prevention measure employed at the Wörth plant, starting with cleaning the body-in-white and culminating in the assembly of the painted and protected cabs. The temperatures stated relate to the object temperatures of the driver's cabs.
The paintwork structure produced during this process is shown on a sample cab.
Chassis paintwork/corrosion protection
The corrosion protection of the chassis already starts with the design. With the help of the hole pattern of 50 mm, mounting of additional assemblies and bodies becomes significantly easier:

Drilling on the frame is eliminated, the corrosion protection applied in the plant remains fully intact.
The frame, including all cast, forged, and sheet metal detachable parts, is also protected through a cathodic dip painting and the subsequent top coating (nova gray, MB 7350).
The following sections and documents show how reliable corrosion protection is achieved for the above-mentioned model series using design measures, production sequences, painting methods, and the use of special materials.

The cab of the ECONIC consists of a welded aluminum structure, the so-called Spacecage, which is paneled with SMC parts. The cab is produced and painted at Sachsenring AG in Zwickau.
The frame is produced in Wörth and is thus equipped with the same corrosion protection as for the ACTROS and ATEGO. The vehicle is assembled at the DaimlerChrysler subsidiary NAW in Switzerland.
