Brake apply

The membrane or combination drum is mounted on the brake caliper (3) by means of a flange and its drive shaft is located on the brake lever (9). The brake lever and shaft form an integrated unit, and the lever section works in roller bearings (20/ 21). At the moment the cylinder is pressurized, the drive shaft movement rotates the brake lever which, due to its special profile, moves away, providing a constant linear movement. This linear movement of the brake lever pushes the intermediate pressure plate (15) against the pressure springs toward the brake disc.

The intermediate pressure plate (15) has a slot in the middle, which holds the adjustment device and the adjustment screw (13), so that the pressure plate displacement (15) presses the inner brake pad against the brake disk, through the pressure plate (12).

The special shape of the brake shaft and its bearings provides the linear clamping movement for the pad toward the brake disc.

After overcoming the clearance between the brake pad (23) and the disc, the reaction force is transmitted to the outer pad (22) through the brake caliper (3), resulting in brake pressure.

Brake relief

When brake pressure is relieved, the pressure springs return the entire holding mechanism to the starting position.
