Parking lock, task

The task of the parking lock is to lock the transmission mechanically and secure the vehicle to prevent it from rolling away when the selector lever is shifted into position "P".

Parking lock, design

The detent disc operates the locking cam which presses on the parking lock pawl. This engages the parking lock pawl in the parking lock gear.
