Remove/install

Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC)

Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Disconnect battery ground line

Unscrew bolts (arrow)

Disconnect electrical connectors from driver airbag unit (1)

 Installation: The electrical connectors must engage.

Disconnect electrical connectors from right multifunction steering wheel button group and left multifunction steering wheel button group

Only with code CL4 (Multifunction steering wheel with trip computer)

Remove driver's airbag (1)

 Dispose of defective airbag unit and seat belt tensioner properly and in an environmentally-appropriate way.

When replacing driver's airbag (1):



Check steering column (after accident)

Install in the reverse order
