Danger | Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) | Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.
Topical note | General information on handling vehicles with high-voltage on-board electrical system and/or lithium-ion battery and/or gaseous-fuel drive system
1 | Release lever of steering wheel adjustment and move steering column all the way down and pull out
2 | Remove combination switch
3 | Unclip cover (1) from steering column tube cover (2)
| Measure | ||
4 | Determine distance between steering shaft and steering column tube (4), dimension (d) | Dimension (d) must be 61.5 to 63.3 mm. If there is a deviation in the measurement result, replace the steering column.
5 | Measure distance between holder surface (3) and crash capsule (4) at right and left | Push cover (1) upwards to measure. If necessary, remove plastic shims (5).
The holder surface (3) must not be moved forward or backward (arrows) to the crash capsule (4).
6 | Replace steering column | Only if steering column is damaged.
7 | Install in the reverse order |
