Removal, installation

 Danger!

Risk of explosion from welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.

Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or naked flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Do not carry out repair work on the circuit of the air conditioning system unless the system is drained.

Drain air conditioning (recycle)

 Installation: evacuate, charge, check for leakage.

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding with hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Remove cover on left and right air inlets

Remove air inlet

Remove water collector

Remove expansion valve

 Plug openings.

Pull off heater feed and return hoses, loosen 3 hose clamps and tighten

 Plug openings.

Remove instrument panel

 Before installing the instrument panel, check for proper functioning.

Remove center console

Remove floor covering on left and right

Remove passenger airbag

Vehicles with passenger airbag (code 291).

Remove jacket tube

Remove wiring duct (25), unscrew 2
screws (26)

 When installing wiring duct (25) pay attention to mount (arrow) on jacket tube holder.

Remove holder (30), unscrew screws (31)

Remove transverse pipe (20)

 For this purpose unscrew 6 screws (23) and 3 hex. nuts (22).

Disconnect electrical leads from ground point W1

Open cable straps (27)

Remove rear air ducts on left and right

Disconnect vacuum lines at cockpit separation point (35)

Remove ground strap (40) on right

Separate blower motor connector

Remove air ducts to side nozzles on left and right

Remove AC housing

24

Install in opposite order
