Check power consumption of retarder

 The measured values must be within the tolerance.
If one of the measured values is outside the tolerance, the electrical connections (5) should be disconnected from the retarder solenoids (4) and each solenoid (5) must be measured separately.

Expose electrical connections (5) of solenoid (4) to be removed

 Installation: The electrical connections must be routed in such a way that they do not rub against other components.

Mark and disconnect electrical connections (5)

 Installation: Only the crimp-type connectors intended for this purpose should be used.



Check solenoid (4) by measuring ohms

 Only replace the solenoid (4) if the value is outside the tolerance.

Remove appropriate retarder rotor

Remove pole plate (1) of appropriate solenoid (4)

 Pay attention to dowel pin (2).



Remove corrugated washer (3)

Remove solenoid (4) with insulating washer (6) and guard plate (7)

 Pay attention to the installation position of the solenoid (4).

 Installation: Make sure that the notch (arrow A) on the guard plate (7) is aligned with the connections (arrow B) of the solenoid (4). The connections (arrow B) of the solenoid (4) must not make contact with the stator.

Install in the reverse order
