Remove/install coolant temperature sensor

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of injury due to touching the hot retarder surface or being scalded with hot retarder surface oil. Risk of injury to skin or eyes due to retarder oil spraying out under high pressure

Do not carry out any work unless retarder is switched off. Wear suitable protective clothing and safety glasses when working on the hot retarder surface

Engine control/permanent brake operating lever on position "0" and switch off ignition

Remove step plate

On semitrailers/tractor combinations except model 375.4, 944.

Partially drain coolant from heat exchanger

Drain partially coolant at radiator

Release cable attachments

 Installation: Replace cable tie.

Release and unplug Voith retarder (X97) connector

Detach Voith retarder connector (X97) from bracket

Remove coolant temperature sensor pin from the Voith retarder connector (X97)



Unscrew coolant temperature sensor (B65) and remove sealing ring (1)

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.


