Danger!

Risk of injury caused by touching hot retarder and by scalding from hot retarder oil. Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by retarder oil escaping under high pressure

Do not carry out any work unless retarder is switched off. Wear suitable protective clothing and safety glasses when working on the hot retarder.

Remove proportional valve

Remove bolt (1)

Remove profile ventilation cover (2) with seal (3)

Clean sealing surfaces on profile ventilation cover (2) and retarder housing (4)

Remove air pipe (5) and remove round-section sealing rings (6)

Pull out valve element (7) and remove round-section sealing ring (10)

Remove float (8) and float cage (9)

Inspect shaped breather

Install

Grease round-section sealing ring (10) and pull onto valve element (7)

Insert float (8) and float cage (9) into valve element (7)

Insert profile ventilation (11) into retarder housing (4) and drive in

Insert air pipe (5) with mounted round-section sealing rings (6) into oil reservoir cover (12)

The round-section sealing rings (6) must be replaced.

Insert profile ventilation cover (2) into air pipe (5) and attach to retarder housing (4)

The gasket (3) must be replaced.
