 Danger !

Risk of death from lowering vehicle when working between wheels and body. Risk of injury from pinching or crushing when working on the air suspension.

Testing and repair work between the wheel and wheel arch or in the wheel well should only be performed if the vehicle is secured using suitable support fixtures to prevent it from lowering.
Adjustment operations should only be performed from underneath the vehicle.
Use only suitable support fixtures to secure the vehicle frame or vehicle axles in order to prevent them from lowering.
If necessary, additionally use suitable support fixtures in order to prevent other moving vehicle parts that are in the working area from lowering, or use suitable retaining devices to prevent these parts from moving suddenly and without warning.
Secure areas with moving vehicle parts against unauthorized access.

Remove

Secure vehicle against rolling

Lower trailing axle

Only if trailing axle is raised.

Switch off ignition

Fully drain compressed-air system

Remove electrical connector (1)

Detach compressed-air connectors (2)

Detach pressure limiting valve with vent (30.03) from trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80)

Only if the pressure limiting valve with vent (30.03) or trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80) is replaced.

Remove trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80) from bracket



Install

Mount trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80) onto bracket

 Trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit to bracket

Attach pressure limiting valve with ventilation (30.03) to trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80)

Only if the pressure limiting valve with vent (30.03) or trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80) is replaced.

Attach compressed-air connectors (2)

Attach electrical connector (1)



Check

Start engine and completely fill compressed-air system at idle speed

Raise trailing axle

Switch off ignition

Check compressed-air connector (2) and threaded connection of pressure limiting valve with vent (30.03) to trailing axle raising/lowering valve unit (Y80) for leaktightness

 Use commercially available leak detector spray.
