Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Raise vehicle.

Secure vehicle.

Remove brake shoes.

Remove expansion lock.

Unscrew screw  (1) and pull brake cable  (2) out of brake carrier plate.

 Screw/bolt, rear brake cable bracket to body/rear axle/brake carrier plate

Remove rpm sensor from axle tube  (5) and seal opening using a suitable stop plug.

Unscrew nuts  (3) and pull rear axle shaft  (4) out of axle tube  (5).

 Collect any transmission oil which runs out.

 Installation: Replace nuts (3) with washers.

 Nut, wheel bearing housing with rear axle shaft to rear axle tube

Remove radial shaft sealing ring in axle tube (5).

 Installation: Replace radial shaft sealing ring.

Remove sealing ring  (6).

 Installation: Replace compression ring (6).

Install in the reverse order.

Correct transmission oil level.

Check axle tube  (5) for leak tightness in area of flange connection to rear axle shaft  (4).
