Grease all moving parts of the differential with special lubricant before installing.
1 Fit shims (3) on rear axle side gears (4).
2 Install rear axle side gears in differential housing.

3 Insert drift (1) into one rear axle side gear (4).
4 Fit both differential pinions (6) with spherical washers (5) on both sides and move to the correct installation position.

5 Use drift (2) to locate the differential pinions and spherical washers.

6 Fit torque wrench over drift (1) on rear axle side gear.
7 Check friction torque (total friction moment) of differential and compare with specified value.
The total friction moment can be changed by adjusting the thickness of the shims. The shims are available in thicknesses of 1.3 mm to 1.7 mm in graduations of 0.05 mm.
8 Exchange shims if necessary and remeasure total friction moment.

9 Drive differential pinion shaft (7) into differential housing so that the dowel pin can be installed.
10 Drive new dowel pin (8) for securing the differential pinion shaft into the differential housing.
