Remove/install

Shift transmission to N position.

Secure vehicle on vehicle lift.

Vent pressure in AIRMATIC system using vehicle diagnosis system.



Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2  m).

Remove brake caliper with connected brake hoses and hang to one side free of tension.

Remove propeller shaft (1) from rear axle differential, hook up to one side and fix in place.

Remove rear shock absorbers.

Remove screws (13, 14) and hook up bracket (12) with electric lines (15) to one side.

Unscrew bolts (10).

 Bolt, rpm sensor to wheel carrier

Remove brackets (2) with rear axle rpm sensors (L6/3, L6/4) and electric lines (4, 15), hook up to one side and fix in place.

Remove air suspension bellows.

Unclip electric lines from holders of rear level sensors (B22/7, B22/10).

Disconnect electrical connectors (20) from rear level sensors (B22/7, B22/10) and hook up electric lines to one side.

Separate electrical connection (16).

Unclip electric line (17) from rear axle differential.

Unclip electric lines (18) from rear axle carrier.

Remove screws (5) from stop plates (6).

Position lifting platform with mount on rear axle (7) and secure with tensioning strap.



Unscrew screws (8) and remove stop plates (6).


Do not use an impact wrench.
Otherwise, the threads will be damaged.

 Installation: Use compressed air to clean thread in frame floor assembly and check for correct seating of threaded inserts.

 Self-locking bolt securing front decoupling element of rear axle carrier to frame floor assembly

Unscrew screws/bolts (9).


Do not use an impact wrench.
Otherwise, the threads will be damaged.

 Installation: Use compressed air to clean thread in frame floor assembly and check for correct seating of threaded inserts.

Lower rear axle (7) until the electrical connector of the electronic locking differential is accessible.

Disconnect electrical connector of automatic locking differential.

Lower rear axle (7).

 Installation: Check whether cavity preservation has been performed on the rear axle carrier.

If not,



perform cavity preservation.
