1 | Remove ring gear with differential | ||
2 | Remove tapered roller bearings (1 and 15) and differential | ||

3 | Unscrew bolts (16 and 187) | ||
4 | Disconnect ring gear (3) with upper half of differential housing (2) from the lower half of differential housing (14) | Use soft hammer to knock off crownwheel. | |
5 | Remove differential side gear (5) with thrust ring (4) from differential spider (11) | ||
6 | Take differential spider (11) with differential pinions (9) out of the lower half of differential housing | ||
7 | Remove thrust washers (6) | ||
8 | Pull differential free gears (9) and shims (7 and 10) from the differential spider (11) | When detaching the differential pinions, pay attention to bearing needles (8) which have been released. | |
9 | Remove differential side gear (12) and thrust ring (13) from bottom half of differential housing (14) | ||
| Assemble | ||
10 | Insert pressure plate (13) and differential side gear (12) in the lower half of the differential housing (14) | ||
11 | Slide shims (10) onto the differential spider's (11) bearing shaft | The chamfered side of the spacer rings must point towards the differential pinion. | |
12 | Center the differential free gears (9) on the bearing shafts of the differential spider | ||
13 | Insert bearing needles (8) in the differential pinions | Insert bearing needles with grease. | |
14 | Mount spacer rings (7) and pressure plate (6) on the differential pinions and insert differential spider in the lower half of the differential housing (14) | ||
15 | Place differential side gear (5) with thrust washer (4) on the differential spider (11) | ||
16 | Place top half of differential housing (2) on bottom half of differential housing (14) | Observe marking on the housing halves. Join the half case sections with the reference marks in alignment. Only assemble housing halves with the same identification number. | |
17 | Screw in bolts (17) of the upper and lower half of the differential housing finger-tight | Use new self-locking serrated bolts. | |
18 | Slide ring gear (3) up to the stop on the upper half of the differential housing (2) | Before installing heat the crownwheel to approximately 80 °C. | |
19 | Screw in bolts (16) for upper half of differential housing to ring gear | Use new self-locking serrated bolts. | |
20 | Screw all bolts in tightly | Upper half of differential housing to ring gear | |

21 | Slide tapered roller bearings (1 and 15) all the way onto differential | Heat tapered roller bearing to approx. 80 °C before installing. | |
22 | Install crown wheel with differential |
