Remove

1

Remove final drive.

Remove interwheel differential lock on ring gear and pinion

 Only with differential lock.

Remove locking plates (2)

 Identify bearing cap (3) and axle housing (11) relative to each other.

Undo bolts (4)

Unscrew ring nuts (5 and 10)



Unscrew bolts (4) and remove bearing cap (3)

Remove vinyl ring (9) from differential

8

Lift ring gear with differential (9) off axle housing (11) and remove outer races (6)

 Identify outer races (6) and tapered roller bearing (7) relative to each other.



Install

Insert ring gear with differential (8) in the axle housing (11)

Insert outer races (6)

 If the tapered roller bearings have not been replaced, observe identification on the outer races and tapered roller bearings.

Mount bearing cap (3) and tighten bolts (4) evenly

 Observe identification on the axle housing and bearing caps.

Screw in bolts to approx. 30 Nm.

Insert plastic ring (9) in the ring nut (10) and then screw in both ring nuts

Geartooth backlash on final-drive unit crownwheel - adjustment

Tighten bolts (4)

Install locking plates (2)

Install interwheel differential lock on ring gear and pinion

 Only with differential lock.
