Detach propeller shaft from coupling flange (2)

 Support propeller shaft.

Release collar nut (1)

 The locking tab must be sheared off completely, as small remains of the locking tab can damage the thread of the shaft when unscrewing the collar nut (1).

 Installation: Secure new collar nut (1).

Unscrew collar nut (1)

 To undo the collar nuts (1) do not use an impact wrench, as otherwise the bearings of the through-drive may be damaged.

 Installation: Replace collar nut (1).



Remove connector flange (2)

 Installation: Check the contact surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (3) at coupling flange (2) for galling and score marks, install new coupling flange if necessary (2).

Grease coupling flange (2) lightly on the contact surface of the radial sealing ring (3) and install.

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (3) from the threaded ring (4)

 The threaded ring (4) must not be twisted in the process as its installation position (installation depth) determines the axial play of the input shaft in the through-drive. If the axial play is adjusted incorrectly the complete axle drive will be irreparably damaged.

 Installation: Install new radial shaft sealing ring (3).

Coat radial shaft sealing ring (3) without outer surface lined with rubber with sealant.

Pack space between dust lip and sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (3) with MB multipurpose grease.
